Diwanag Trivia

Do you know that....

The troupe conducts regular auditions every semester?
To sustain the membership of the troupe, auditions are conducted at the start of each semester. New members take the place of those who have already graduated or were not able to continue their membership.

Every school year, an average of two full-length productions are being staged by the Diwanag?
Through the artistic direction of OCAD, the Diwanag showcases its artistry during what was then known as the College Days, and now the University Days. Lately, it also performs during the Buwan ng Wika and during important celebrations of the HNU/SVD Family.

HNU's resident dance troupe caters to invitational performances for the community at large?
Host institutions usually are Local Government Units (LGUs), tour operators, and National Line Agencies. During fiesta celebrations, the troupe is regularly invited to perform full-length shows in the towns at an average of eight contracted performances a year.

The Diwanag members enjoy tremendous benefits from the school?
Aside from full scholarships, the members of the troupe are also exempted from their P. E. classes because of their rigid rehearsals almost every weekday evenings and during weekends. They are also exposed to original dance masterpieces created by local Boholano choreographers.

HNU's resident dance troupe is already the province's most sought-after dance ensemble?
One can already expect that in every major cultural event in the province, the Diwanag is always in the spotlight. For the last three years, the troupe has been a regular feature during The Travel Mart, a showcase of the country's prime tourism destinations. During last year's Central Visayas Goes WOW in Intramuros, they were regular performers and were even showcased at the Cultural Center of the Philippines, together with the country's top performers in WOW Turismo Para sa Filipino.
