Jesus and three of His disciples, Peter, James and John, ascend Mt. Tabor, otherwise known as mount of transfiguration and there receive a vision of Moses and Elijah. All they really need to do, just as it is for us today, is to listen to God's word and allow Him to reveal himself to us.

That was how and when transfiguration took place - and by virtue of Divine Providence, who would not wonder; was it mere coincidence or was it willed by God that the educators and learning facilitators of Holy Name University - High School Department, were given the opportunity to visit for the first time the Monastery of Transfiguration in San Jose, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon. The mentors thought that it would just be like the many retreats and recollections in the past. Nothing was going to be new, but that was proven wrong. The gift that was in our retreat master and spiritual shepherd had greatly made an impact in each of us. It seems he brought healing wonders in each one's heart. That was what Reverend Father Dom Pachomius Ma. San Juan, OSB, to us.

It was a real experience of transfiguration especially when we had a touch of paradise in heaven as we strolled through the cool mountain cliffs and vales in the early dawn to offer special prayers to the God of love. It was such a prayer-filled encounter with the giver of the gifts. That was really a walk of faith that has led us to realize that we have to ask God what He wants us to do and not to insist on what we want God to do for us.

It is sad but true that the world in which we live often tends to influence our choices according to the desires of our flesh rather what we know to be God's will for us. This means that we need to pause and reflect upon what we are doing often in order to realign our priorities if they are detached from God's will.

I, was the objective of the beautiful experience last March 31-April, 2007. Hopefully, this serves as a beautiful reminder to each teacher in his/her quest to continue making a difference in the lives of young men and women. This encounter was more intensified and nurtured when the High School family attended the Arnold Janssen Spirituality Seminar in Talibon on May 28-30, 2007. Let us therefore always take the time to listen and reflect upon God's message to us in the everyday ups and downs. For God speaks to us in special ways He alone knows and designs.
