The College of Computer Science hosted this year's convention of the Philippine Society of IT Educators (PSITE) Region 7. The three-day conference was held at the Bohol Plaza Resort and Restaurant last April 19-21, 2007 and was participated by Information
Technology faculty members from schools in the region.
Still Anchored on the organization's theme, "Building an IT-Enabled Nation", the focus of this year's convention was on faculty researches. Presentations on varied topics such as machine translations to expert systems and Geographic Information System were made. To entertain the participants, the Diwanag Dance Troupe gave a stellar performance of their interpretation of the Bohol Hym and a mimic dance of a Tarsier, which awed the participants. The event culminated with the election of officers.
Ms. Eva Marie Fuerte, Mr. Genes Molina, Mr. Julius Balio and Mrs. Amie Rosarie Caballo, all faculty members of the college, participated in the convention and at the same time served as the secretariat. The four are now members of the organization, with Mrs. Caballo being elected as the Secretary.
This convention is the third of its kind. The past two conventions were held at the University of San Jose Recoletos, Cebu City in 2005 and Silliman University, Dumaguete City in 2006.
