After a week of daily rain, the mythical Greek Olympic gods smiled favorably on the CAS athletes as the sun peeped out of the clouds last Saturday, July 28, 2007 to make the CAS Sportsfest one of the most successful and enjoyable in years.
"AIM HIGH IN SPORTS" was the pervading theme of the day. It was emblazoned in large, eye-catching letters in the High School gym stage and on the invitations that were disseminated days before the event. Dean Estrellita Sajulan reiterated the theme in her keynote address to kick-off the day's festivities.
Some highlights of the program that were worthwhile remembering were the Dancercise, participated in by everyone and led by Mass Comm Juniors, and the group cheering by different departments. Lots of innocent, boisterous fun was had by all. But the focal point of the non-athletic events of the day was the selection of Miss CAS Intramurals. Nine beautiful entries representing the different CAS departments graced the stage to vie for the title. Ms. Maria Ruth Campos, a 3rd year Mass Comm student, emerged as the contest winner. To complement her stunning beauty and poise, she also garnered the awards as the best in sportswear and the best in interview.
The rest of the day was spent outdoors as CAS athletes plied their favorite sports to their heart's content. There could not have been a better day for any outdoor loving person to spend than the one that was held. Many were still bouncing balls or swinging bats and racquets till nightfall.
