SMART Communications, Inc. extended another five-year contract with Holy Name University as SMART partner school of the Smart Wireless Engineering Education Program or SWEEP. The renewed Memorandum of Agreement and Contract was signed effective July 8, 2008 until July 17, 2013 by Fr. Francisco T. Estepa, SVD, HNU President and Mr. Olrando B. Vea, SMART Communications' Chief Wireless Advisor.
Dubbed as SWEEP Phase 2, the new contract includes another donation from SMART. Among these are the installation of Wireless Broadband Equipment at the SWEEP Laboratory in the Bates Building and the provision of enhanced technical and hands-on training.
Part of this MOA is the continued support from SMART Communications to provide more trainings to Engineering and IT faculty of Holy Name University such as Technology Seminar on Networking Fundamentals, TCP/IP, VoIP, 3G Systems Training, Residential - SMART Bro Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) Training and its Corporate and Value Added Services, Wireless Broadband Overview; and Installation and Configuration of the Wireless Broadband Equipment.
Another parallel program of SWEEP is the integration of the Application Developer's Intro School (ADIS) program, a technical elective course into HNU's BS Computer Science, BS Computer Engineering, and BS Electronics Engineering curricula.
