The College of Nursing for the first semester of this school year has tremendous increase in its student population. It has a total of 1,909 students or an increase of 88% from the second semester's enrolment.
The University was also able to tie up with the Medical Mission Cooperative Hospital for the related learning experience of the BSN students so the CON started fielding students in that hospital on June 12,2007. The college also started its related learning experience at Divine Word hospital in Tacloban City.
The college now has a total of 92 clinical instructors, 13 are newly hired. Of the 13, four are from Divine Word Hospital, who were hired as part-timers. They are Zusie Abuda, Golda Jean Lacandazo, Jean Lozada, and Krishna Rae America. The nine full time clinical instructors are Mr. Vincent Apayor, Ms. Stephanie Tara Comahig, Ms. Marie Marjorie Dagdayan, Ms. Irnil Pamis, Ms. Ma. Emeline Tan, Ms. Nena Maris Tejano, Mr. Roderick Avanceña, Mrs. Rosalie Avanceña and Mrs. Clelia Ferniz.
Starting school year 2007-2008, the Community Health Nursing Chair was changed to Assistant to the RLE chair with Mrs. Lourdes Babor duly appointed to the aforesaid position. In addition, new coordinators are also appointed to occupy their respective positions. They are as follows:
There are 44 clinical instructors who are pursuing their master's degree and are enrolled in the Graduate school of HNU. Mrs. Lucy Antonette Sales, Mrs. Judith Godines and Mrs. Victoria Usaraga are the HRD scholars for this school year.
The incoming Level III students were able to receive their caps and badges last June 6, 2007 at the main gymnasium. The parents proudly watched their children take a closer step to achieving their goals.
On Saturday, July 28, 2007, the department held a general assembly for all nursing students at the high school gymnasium. This activity was conducted to help the students and the administration forge unity and camaraderie for the improvement of the department.
