In its efforts to continue pursuing quality education, the College of Business and Accountancy conducted the Q-RED Research Project. Q-RED stands for Quality Redefinition and Educational Directions. It aims to define quality education as perceived by its clients–students, alumni, teachers, the industry and the community at large. It also aims to assess the quality of education which the College of Business and Accountancy offers and to identify ways to improve it. The research project is spearheaded by Mr. Michael Cañares, CPA, together with his allies Mrs. Florita Dote-Acero, CPA, Mrs. Cheryl Calope, Mr. Ernesto Golosino, Mr. Dennis Jayectin, Ms. Marysol Ocon, CPA, and Ms. Lutgarda Puerta.
To put the project together, the research team conducted a focus group discussions with randomly picked students, dean’s listers, alumni, and teachers. Over the summer, key informant interviews were conducted with industry and community representatives around the province. In the activities, research participants were asked to identify the essential components of college/university education. Research participants were asked to decide whether these components are achieved or not in so far as the college is concerned. The activity has truly been revealing as discussions for reasons and justifications were made.
