US Nursing Administrators Visit HNU
A courtesy call to Fr. Francisco Estepa, SVD, President of HNU, was conducted by the heads of Department of Nursing Faculty, Georgia College and State University, Milledgeville, Georgia USA last July 12, 2008 through the international linkages of The Big Leap Outsourcing and Resource Development, Inc. In the juncture are (L-R) Engr. Terry Montaño Jr., President of The Big Leap, Fr. Francisco Estepa, SVD, President of HNU, Martha Colvin, Ph.D., Chair–Undergraduate Nursing GCSU, Jeanne Sewell, MAN, Professor–Graduate Nursing GCSU, Maria Flor Culpa-Bondal, Ph.D., Assistant Professor-Undergraduate Nursing, GCSU.
Nursing administrators from Georgia College and State University (GCSU) based in Milledgeville, Georgia, United States of America, visited the Holy Name University last July 12, 2008 in order to explore possible linkage with HNU College of Nursing. Their visit to Bohol was made possible by The Big Leap Outsourcing and Resource Development Inc. led by its President, Engr. Terry Montaño, Jr. The Big Leap is one of the outsourced service providers for the existing competency appraisal of Level IV students and professionally manages the Millenium Nursing Review Specialists–Bohol.
The team from GCSU was composed of Martha Colvin, PhD., Chair–Undergraduate Nursing, Jeanne Sewell, MAN, Professor–Graduate Nursing and Maria Flor Culpa-Bondal, PhD., Assistant Professor-Undergraduate Nursing. It is inspiring to know that Dr. Culpa-Bondal was an alumna of HNU College of Nursing and is now based in Georgia, USA. The group went to Fr. Francisco Estepa, SVD in the morning of July 12 for a courtesy call and discussed the areas of potential joint collaboration such as transcultural nursing, faculty training and development, and immersion programs. The creation of the international linkage between HNU and GCSU will be undertaken together with The Big Leap. A guided tour for the visitors was conducted at the College of Nursing facilities at Dampas Campus after the courtesy call.

In the afternoon, the GCSU team provided updates regarding nursing careers in the USA to the Level III students as well as the curriculum they have developed that delivered 91% passing percentage in NCLEX for their students. Dean Elizabeth Floresca, RN, MAN, delivered a short and inspiring message of appreciation to the visitors and provided them with plaques of appreciation.
