COCS Hosts JEDI Training

HNU, through the College of Computer Science, recently hosted a one-week Teachers’ Training on the Phase I module of the Java Education and Development Initiative (JEDI). It was held last May 5-9, 2008 at the Bates Computer Laboratory and was participated in by 25 college IT instructors from different schools in Bohol. Ms. Chuchi Montenegro, a faculty member from the College of Computer Studies of Silliman University and a JEDI Champion, was the resource person.

The Phase 1 Module contains topics on Programming Fundamentals I and II and Data Structures. During the training, the participants made use of Netbeans, a development software, to create programs in Java.
The activity was sponsored by the Philippine Society of IT Educators-Region 7.
Holy Name University, through the College of Computer Science is the first university in Bohol to be a member of JEDI. Being a member, their materials will be made available to the teachers and students for free.
