The THAUMA Society celebrated its Philosophy Days 2008 on January 16 to 18, 2008. The highlight of the celebration was a series of symposia held at the Fr. Alphonse Lesage, SVD Educational Media Center, Holy Name University Main Campus, Tagbilaran City.
This year's Philosophy Days bore the theme "Philosophy Journey with Life." Joey Eduard Arabejo, the President of THAUMA Society chaired the three-day activity.
The THAUMA Society, an organization established by the students taking Philosophy course is mandated by its Constitution and By-laws to promote Philosophy course to the Holynamian students. Every year, the THAUMA Society conducts symposia in order that the students know more about Philosophy.
This year's celebration activities included an opening mass, lobby display, talks and film showings. The three-day symposium tackled topics on "Moral Assessment of Sexual Self-Gratification" by Prof. Jonathan C. Neri, M.A., "Bioethics: Its Origin, Contributions, and Directions towards the Human Person's Quest for a Better Life" by Dr. Eddie R. Babor, LL.B. and "Rawlsian Notion of Justice: Implications to Health Care" by Prof. Joselito Galendo.
The Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, Dr. Estrellita P. Sajulan ended the celebration with a closing remarks. The said celebration was essentially focused on bioethics underpinned by the real and future situations of our life.
