In the continuous pursuit of professional development, five high school teachers who teach English, Math, Science, Filipino and Social Science attended a three-day summer In-Service Training for Secondary School Teachers on "The Revised Secondary Education Curriculum and Understanding by Design" sponsored by PEAC- FAPE, held at the University of San Jose Recolletos in Cebu City from April 30 until May 2, 2009.
The seminar aimed to point out the need for developing understanding in students and to explain how understanding by design (UbD) affects students learning. Further, the training discussed the DepED's adaptation of UbD in Revised Secondary Education Curriculum (RSEC).
The High School faculty members who attended the training were Dr. Asuncion Pabalan, (Araling Panlipunan) Mr. Temistocles Bongcac (English), Mrs. Cirila Capili (Filipino), Mrs. Clarita Pajo (Physics) and Dr. Marlon S. Jala (Math). The training provided the participants a hand-on experience on how to implement and integrate the "Understanding by Design" in the writing of Lesson Plan and Classroom discussion.
Thus, several insights and learnings were gained by the HNU-HS educators which have equipped them to further improve their teaching- learning skills. Live on Educators in providing the best innovation for quality education for the new generations.
