The College of Education successfully held its annual Sportsfest on July 18, 2009 in the St. Arnold Janssen Gym. This year, the Sportsfest followed a new design. Games were held in an intramurals format, with four competing teams - GCCC Team, English Majors Society, Spedsters and another Team composed of students with different specializations.
The annual event opened with a program ably facilitated by COED LGU officers headed by Ms. Arlene Paredes. The COED Dean, Dr. Roque Bongcac welcomed the students and outlined the purpose. Ms. Mary Grace Ramada, a student officer introduced the coaches and the game officials while Ms. Miresa Mae Gasque led the Oath of Sportsmanship.
Highlighting the opening program were also the intermission numbers: song by Ms. Ladylou Ceniza and Ms. Ma. Estrella Olaivar; and dance by the student teachers and the Blue Marbles. Everybody get a good warm-up when the MAPEH majors led the dance exercise.
After the opening program, the athletic competition followed. Teachers and students assigned as officials ably facilitated the games which were intended to identify students who will complete the line-up to compete in this year's intramurals.
Miss Jaybee Soquillo, a third year COED student, served as emcee. The Sportsfest would not have been that successful without the initiative of Mr. Barnette Tatad and Mr. Bryan Ladaran who served as overall coordinators.
