The Houston Planning Committee includes Ma-Annabelle Vinalon- Sumaylo, Julie Armachuelo, Lissa May Asunto-Gonzales, Elizabeth Vergas-Halbert, Emelita Chatto- Lomod, and the only Hildegardean couple Victor Vincent Orion and Zipporah Fortich- Orion. Other members assisting in the preparation are Maria Theresa Penales-Jao, Edgar Loquellano, Tita Llano-Borja (California) and Armi Garma (Yahoo group author: Dallas).
The number of committed attendees of the said reunion has reached to approximately 150. These comprise of 33 Hildegardeans, nine clinical instructors, and their families. Class advisers Margaret Pana- Faisal and Jevica Virtudes will be the speakers in this momentous celebration.
The reunion kicks off on Friday, June 19, 2009, with registration and mass at The Lakes of Country Place clubhouse. There will be an election of new set of officers and introduction of future community outreach project for the Philippines. As representation of the Texan culture, the theme of the celebration will be Western. Participants will be sporting with cowboys’ / cowgirls’ attires; and barbecues will be part of the menu. Come evening of June 19, “Jammin’ and Dancin’ ‘80’s style will be held at Gold Ribbon restaurant. At this time, the newly elected officers will be inducted. The rest of the evening will be slated for dancing and socializing.
In the second day of the celebration, June 20, 2009, a gala at Marriott Hotel Medical Center will be conducted. Web cam connection with Hildegardeans in the Philippines, and RMC Orient Band will perform live as highlights of the evening affair. Luau party will culminate the celebration at Cristia V. Adair Park on June 21, 2009. Invited guests consist of alumni and friends who helped the celebration come to terms with reality.
The Hildegardeans class reunion will not only be a time for its adherents to renew their old friendships but also a time to launch ways to give back to their communities. These nurses have served the human race all over the world with their knowledge, skills, and good morals that had been instilled in them by their parents and their alma mater, Holy Name University in Tagbilaran City, Philippines.
