The KAbataang PAngarap ni RIZal of Holy Name University Bohol Chapter celebrated its University-wide RIZAL Days Celebration on December 2 to 4, 2008. The highlight of the celebration was a series of talk held at the Fr. Charles Scanlon, SVD - Alumni Audio Visual Hall, Holy Name University - Janssen Heights Campus, Tagbilaran City.
This year's University-wide RIZAL Days Celebration bore the theme "Children of Rizal's One Hundred Years: Surpass the Past. Fulfill the Future" with its call to action "Super Pinoy: Yakang-Yaka, Yan!" Sir Joey Eduard H. Arabejo the Chapter President of KAPARIZ HNU-Bohol Chapter chaired the three-day activity with the assistance of their adviser, Prof. Agnes B. Bustrillos.
The KAbataang PAngarap ni RIZal (KAPARIZ) is the official youth arm of the Order of the Knights of Rizal, a statutory corporation chartered under Republic Act No. 646, and is mandated by law to promote the ideals and teachings of Dr. Rizal among our people particularly the Filipino youth. It serves as the umbrella organization of all Rizal youth groups in schools and communities nationwide.
KAbataang PAngarap ni RIZal members embody the ideals of our national hero Dr. Jose P. Rizal, an icon of the Malay race. The organization seeks to develop social consciousne, dedication, leadership, honor, excellence and enlightened nationalism in every individual. It is a fraternal organization, civic, patriotic alternative, cultural, non-partisan, non-stock, non-profit and non-sectarian.
Every year, the KAbataang PAngarap ni RIZal invites students and youth leaders nationwide in a Rizal Month-long Celebration in order to gain information and expose the young in leadership excellence and responsibility to our fatherland.
This year's celebration activities included an Opening Mass, Planting of the Tree of Hope, Lobby Display, Wreath Laying, Film Showing, Room to Room Campaign and Series of Talks. The one-day talk tackled topics on "My Personal Reflection about Dr. Jose P. Rizal and the movie, "Jose Rizal" by Sir Cesar Montano, Knight Cross Rizal (KCR); and "What is KAPARIZ and its Nature as an Organization" by Sir John Metodio B. Maraguinot Jr..
The Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, Fr. Teodoro P. Gapuz, SVD, graced the culmination program with his welcome remarks followed by talks from the two guests of honor with a surprise intermission number from Mrs. Sunshine Cruz - Montano and ended the celebration with a closing remark of Prof. Crisanto Jose O. Estonina, M.A. - Chairman of the Social Science Department. The said celebration was essentially focused on the importance and role of youth in the modern day.
