The College of Education (COED) held its annual Big Day on January 24, 2010 at the High School Gymnasium with a handful of fun-filled activities.
The event was commenced by a holy mass celebrated by HNU's Vice President for Finance, Fr. Emmanuel Mario Sarabia, SVD, followed by the cheerful songs and yells of every group. Each department represented a barangay which comprised of its members who gave themselves aliases for the event -- the English majors comprised "Barangay Fairy Tales," students of the General Course Content was "Barangay Greek Mythology," the student-teachers made up "Barangay Superhero," and the Special Education and Mixed Majors were "Barangay Amazon." The barangay contingents put their creativity to the test as they impressed everyone with their songs and yells as well as their group presentations.
A fashion show followed after lunch, the much-awaited part of the celebration. Colorful gowns were worn by each barangay representative. The teachers, on the other hand, were not being outstaged. They showcased their knack for impersonation and imitated characters from the different teleseryes aired over ABS-CBN's Primetime Bida.
After all the fun, a tearful Closing Remarks was delivered by the college's governor, along with a serenade, to express her gratitude to the college. Her tears reflected both joy and sadness for after graduating this March, she will surely miss the revelry and camaraderie that will surely happen every year during the COED Big Day.
