FEAST OF ST. JUDE

The Guidance Services Department celebrated the first fiesta in honor of St. Jude.

GABAY-BUHAY UPDATES

The Gabay-Buhay new and old members together with their spouses and children celebrated a "fellowship party" last August 21, 2009 at JJ'S Food Stream, Tagbilaran City. The same group, together with Mrs. Agnes Misterio, program coordinator, went to Poblacion, Dauis, last September 26, 2009, to conduct the first outreach activity to the young parents of the said area. Rev. Fr. Agerio Pana was invited to talk about "Shaping a Child's Character through Spiritual Companioning". An interaction followed right after. Subsequently, Fr. Victor Bompat delivered his closing remark to formally end the activity.

PRO-LIFE ACTIVITIES

A symposium was conducted to the second year students of the Colleges of Business and Accountancy, and Nursing last September 19, 2009 and October 2, 2009, respectively at the Multi Media Center. The resource speakers were, Dr. Asuncion Jalad, MD, Mr. Rufino Ocon, a Grade school teacher and Mrs. Junith Angelie Pueblo, Pro-Life coordinator. Meanwhile , the annual training for pro-life volunteers was held last August 15, 2009, at the Engineering Lecture Room. There were fourteen student volunteers and one faculty member who participated in the said training. Moreover, the Pro-Life coordinator, together with the student pro-lifers attended the Diocesan Summit for Life at Bohol Wisdom School last August 29, 2009. The whole day activity was intended for all parish and private youth organizations.

MOTIVATIONAL SUPPORT PROGRAM

On August 8, 2009 at the Engineering Lecture Room, a session on the motivational support program was conducted for selected students from the College of Engineering and Education. The participants had a workshop whereby they were able to express the obstacles and concerns which negatively affected schooling. Dr. Princesita Buma-at, former Guidance Director, conveyed important insights on the will and intellect as critical aspects which guide individuals to direct themselves in the proper way. The talk was reinforced with a key actions workshop which enabled the students to put into writing how they are going to cope with the obstacles in their life. Ms Kristine Aca-ac, CBA, guidance counselor ably facilitated the activity.

APPLYING FOR A JOB SYMPOSIUM

A series of symposia on "Applying for a Job" were conducted to all graduating students on August 1, 8 & 15, 2009, in the different multi media centers of the university. Participating departments were the Colleges of Education,Computer Science, Engineering, Arts and Sciences, and Commerce and Accountancy. The activity was well coordinated by Mrs. Maria Dumadag.

SERVICES FOR GRADE SCHOOL DEPARTMENT

Ms. Reina Annibir Corre, Grade school guidance counselor and Mrs. Michelle Rellita , Student Activity Program Coordinator conducted a whole day leadership training seminar to the Classroom and Club Officers from Grades 1-3, last August 6, 2009, at the Multi-Media Center. The help extended by the officers of the Supreme Pupil Government contributed a lot to the success of the activity. Meanwhile, a seminar on Family Virtues was also conducted to the parents of Kinder 1 and 2 pupils last September 26, 2009 at the Grade School AV Hall. The speakers were Mrs. Pueblo, Mrs. Orig and Dr. Samson. Last October 20, 2009, a symposium on the "Effects of Pornography" intended for all Grade V1 pupils was held at the Multi Media Center. The resource speaker was Dr. Asuncion Jalad, MD.

SYMPOSIUM FOR THE HIGH SCHOOL DEPARTMENT

A series of pro-life symposia were conducted to all second year high school students on October 6, 7 and 8, 2009 at the Multi-Media Center. The topics include: Schema for Psychosexual Growth of a Person, Love and Infatuation, Saying No to Premarital sex and Pro-Life Issues. The sessions were handled and facilitated by the High School Guidance Staff, together with Mrs. Junith Angeli Pueblo and Dr. Asuncion Jalad. Moreover, The Parents-Youth Relationship Encounter sessions were conducted to the three sections already. The high school counselors took turns in facilitating the activity.
