For the first time, the COED successfully held the "Dialog with Partners", a gathering of cooperating teachers, principals, parent representatives, student teachers, senior student, HNU administrators and COED faculty. Held on October 10, 2009 at the HS Multi-Media Center, the dialog aimed to monitor feedback from educational partners and stakeholders regarding the teaching performance of student teachers in the first Semester of 2009-2010. The feedback will be used as frameworks as basis in the improvement of the quality of the teacher education of the institution.
Guests included Dr. Erlinda Mahinay - Assistant City School Division Superintendent; Mrs. Concepcion Bagotchay - principal, Dr. Cecilio Putong National High School; Mr. Marcelino Pelin - Principal, City East Elementary School; Ms. Maria Sandra Isabel Fortich - faculty, Dr. Cecilio Putong National High School; Ms. Dioscora Ramos and Ms. Dioscora Sayon - faculty-administrators of City Central Elementary School; Mrs. Concepcion Gallentes - faculty of the Dampas Elementary School and Mrs. Asucina Da-anoy, a parent representative.
The Dialog started with the guests' presentation of their assessment of the student teachers' performance followed by an open forum. True to its theme, the dialog was indeed a spirited exchange of views and reactions. The interaction gripped the attention of the participants who requested that the interaction be extended. What was designed originally as a two-hour dialog extended to almost four hours. The facilitators, Mr. James Visto and Mrs. Catherine Cequina who were also student teachers had to end the open forum for lack of time.
The University President, Fr. Kito Estepa delivered a message that gave the affair a sense of ending. Also present during the affair was Dr. Prisciano S, Legitimas and Dr. Remedios U. Cardino, principals of the HNU Grade School and High School respectively, Dr. Guadalupe Saturinas, COED Dean Emeritus and the current dean, Dr. Roque Bongcac.
Dr. Restituto Balabat, a COED faculty headed the committee that was in-charge of the preparations.
