Under the supervision of a COED faculty, Mrs. Jackelyn Fajardo, 50 students specializing in Special education (SPED) went on an educational tour to schools in Cebu offering the same program on September 23, 2009. The SpED students visited the Prime Center Cebu in Mandaue City, and the Montessori School of the University of san Carlos in Cebu City. To ensure that the students would distill significant learnings from the tour, they were required to produce a portfolio of their experiences.

Adding excitement to the students' experience was the unexpected entry of typhoon Ondoy to the Philippine area of responsibility. The students got stranded due to the extremely bad weather. No seacraft was allowed to ply the rough seas. The students had to stretch their budget for meals and other personal need until the time they could go back home. Mrs. Fajardo, who chaperoned the students, helped them in their meals. Prime Center Cebu management was so generous to accommodate them.

After two days of prologed stay in Cebu, the students finally found their way back home.
