November, 4 has always been a red-letter day for Boholanos as they have all the reasons to celebrate, knowing that this day is the day of the late Carlos P. Garcia, a full-blooded Boholano, who once steered our native land under his leadership as the President of the Philippine Republic.
As the Boholanos celebrated Pres. Carlos P. Garcia's Day last November 4, 2009, a quiz bee on his life, which served as the highlight of the annual event sponsored by the Provincial Governement of Bohol in cooperation with the Department of Education, was competed by the students coming from the different schools in the whole province. The contestants bested each other at Bohol Cultural Center. Nora Mie Pancha, a first year student of Holy Name University was this year's over-all champion. She was coached by Miss Carlota Glovasa, her teacher-adviser.
Meanwhile, a senior student, Joseph Victor Baquial also from Holy Name University was a Visayas Area Qualifier of the Philippine Mathematics Olympiad. Baquial competed with other students from the different schools in the entire Visayas region. The Olympiad was held at U.P. Campus, Lahug, Cebu City last October 24, 2009. Baquial competed for the level on November 21, 2009 at the same venue. Dr. Marlon S. Jala is his coach.
The HNU family is truly proud of all of you.
