October is often dedicated to the Blessed Mother as most Catholic nations pay special tribute to her during this Rosary Month. She is lovingly looked up to as our intercessor and our "way" to her Son, Jesus. The Grade School Department opened the month with a pilgrimage to the Our Lady of Barangay Shrine in Cogon. As early as 6:30 in the morning of October 3, 2009, the teachers, pupils and some of their parents made a prayerful walk to the said shrine.
After everybody found his/her place inside the church, a Eucharistic Celebration commenced with the parish priest, Fr. Alvin Pusta, officiating together with Fr. Andres Guban, SVD ( HNU Vice-President for Administration ) and Fr. Milo Mapaye, SVD ( Grade School Chaplain ). Part of the liturgy was the offering of flowers to the Blessed Mother.
On October 30, 2009, the whole Grade School Family gathered at the Janssen Heights Gym to culminate the month-long observance with a Living Rosary. The Grade School Principal, Dr. Prisciano Legitimas, started the prayer right after a reflective introduction. He was then followed by the other teacher, staff, and pupil representatives. Marian songs were sung after each decade, and pupils from the different grade levels took turns in offering their flowers to the image of the Holy Mother.
Even after the Rosary Month, everyone was encouraged to continue praying the rosary and deepen their devotion to Mary who always leads the faithful followers to her loving Son, Jesus Christ.
