The Research Center of Holy Name University recently conducted its yearly Research Colloquium themed "Sharing Research Learning for Professional Advancement" last September 26, 2009 at the HNU High School Multi-media Center. It was participated in by college department heads and selected college faculty members. The said event aims to increase and develop the capabilities of the school's researchers through the professional sharing of research outputs.
The Research Center invited faculty researchers who completed their HNU-funded researches to present the outputs of their studies. Notable persons were also invited to serve as reactors for the speakers. For this year, three researchers presented their research outputs. They were Ms. Lutgarda Puerta and Mr. Michael Cañares, both faculty members of the College of Business and Accountancy and Ms. Dionisia Bermudo, a faculty member of the College of Arts and Sciences. After each presentation, reactors gave their comments and reactions regarding the topic presented, after which an open-forum was done in order for other participants to express their thoughts and ask questions regarding the topic.
Ms. Puerta presented the outputs of the research entitled "Quality Review of Education Directions (Q-RED)." Her reactor was Mrs. Maria Lourdes Sultan, owner and manager of Travel Village. This was followed by Ms. Bermudo who discussed her study entitled "Needs Assessment of Religion Teachers among BACS Member Schools: Basis for the Development of a Catechetical Institute." The reactor for this research was Fr. Joel Ruyeras, Moderator-Curae of the Diocese of Tagbilaran. The last presentation was done by Mr. Cañares from his research paper entitled "The Excluded Poor: How Poverty Targeting Has Left Out the Poor in Peripheral Cities in the Philippines" with Dr. Nestor Pestelos, Director of Bohol Local Development Foundation, as the reactor.
