After more than four months of sports hostilities among different Holy Name University alumni teams, 'Play for the Scholars 6' finally culminated on October 1 during Game 3 of the best-of-3 championship series in volleyball-Men. The tournament was launched by the Alumni Association of HNU-Bohol, Inc. (AAHNU-BI) on May 21, 2017 with various teams competing in lawn tennis, volleyball and basketball.
'Play for the Scholars 6' is actually the eight season of the inter-batch sports event that started with 'Play for Peace' in 2012 and also had "Play for HNU" in 2014. The tournament's main goal is to strengthen the bond among alumni batches. It also serves as a fund-raising event for the association's Scholarship Program.
Ten pairs from the high school batches of 1981, 1983, 1997 and HNU Employees participated in Lawn Tennis. In Volleyball-Women, three teams from the high school batches of 1994, 1997 and HNU were the contenders. The teams that competed in Volleyball-Men were from the high school batches of 1981, 1983, 1984, 1985 and HNU Employees. Seven teams composed of the younger high school batches of 1993, 19994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1999 and 2000 played in the faster-paced basketball event.
The formal recognition of participants and winners in the tournament will be done on October 21 at the HNU Covered Court. Dubbed as "'Players' and Fans' Nyt 3, the affair will also feature a live band and competitions among batches/teams in table setting, group attire, group attendance, song duet and group dance.

The medals bore the new AAHNU-BI logo, which will be formally presented during the event. The logo was designed by Engr. Ian Samonte of HNU HS Batch 1997. The medals, on the other hand, were produced by Boholano craftsman Riche Polan from Tubigon. /JCN/
