The faculty members of the College of Computer Studies attended a 1½-day research writeshop, specific to the field of Computer Science last May 24-25, 2012 at the Academic Conference Room. The writeshop was facilitated by Dr. Robert Roxas, Chair of the Computer Science Department of the University of the Philippines Cebu College. The session started with inputs from the facilitator on the basic elements of a research and the steps on how to conduct research in CS/IT. Dr. Roxas also emphasized that research is not enough. The faculty members, as researchers, should also be keen on the intellectual property rights that go with their research.
The second session was spent by the faculty members on reviewing related papers on a topic of their choice. The goal was for them to present a simple review of related literature of a topic, which is more feasible to pursue within the year. During the presentation, feedback were heard from the other faculty members, as well as, pertinent comments from the facilitator.
The writeshop ended with words of encouragement from the facilitator, as well as, that from Mrs. Ma. Paz Espiritu, the University Research Coordinator.
