In order to gain feedback from the industry with the goal of improving its academic programs, the College of Computer Studies held a dialogue with its alumni last February 25, 2012 at the Alumni Hall, Freinademetz Building, Holy Name University. The activity was participated by 3rd and 4th year CS and IT students.
The half-day program was formally opened by Fr. Francisco T. Estepa, SVD, who welcomed the guests and the students. It was then followed by the statement of purpose given by Dean Amie Rosarie Caballo.
The five invited guests, namely Mr. Felix Oliver Bacareza, a Web Developer at Auza.net, Mr. Jan Jaykyll Borja, an IT Specialist of First Consolidated Bank, Mr. Jonathan Rhey Tan, a call center agent of Stream Global Services, Ms. Dorothy Joy Alegrado, an IT Instructor of Informatics and Mr. Spencer Morgia, a Web Developer of Smooth Designs, shared their views on how future graduates should prepare themselves to be more competitive in the corporate world of IT. Rights knowledge, skills and attitude are the main ingredients to become successful in the IT field. Technical skills maybe necessary upon entry, however, people skills are equally important most especially if one wants to climb in the corporate ladder. Confidence and good communication skills were emphasized also.
The activity ended with an inspirational message from the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Fr. Ruel F. Lero, SVD.
