Four students from the College of Computer Science, who recently graduated last March 2011, passed the Philippine IT General Certification Examination held last March 25, 2011 at Holy Name University. The four students are Mr. Jagad Marxcarlo Alombro, Ms. Irish Charmie Tandog, Ms. Marilou Dagulo, and Mr. Sherwin Suaybaguio.
The said exam, which is initiated by the Cebu Educational Development Foundation for Information Technology (CEDF-IT), is aimed at gauging the fundamental IT knowledge of the students in various areas of the IT field such as Basic Networking, Basic Computer Organization and Architecture, Basic Database and Information Management, Discrete Math, Operating System, Professional Ethics, Programming Fundamentals, Programming Languages, Basic Software Engineering, Trends and Issues, Basic Math, Basic Statistics, and Business Process and Applications. Questions were contributed by its academic and industry partners. To note, some schools in Cebu and Dumaguete are already giving the exam for their graduating students.
This is the first time that said exam is conducted here in Bohol. It will then be integrated in the programs offered by the College of Computer Science of Holy Name University by requiring its graduating students to take the exam as a means of assessment. Along with the results, the College will receive a report from CEDF-IT as to the performance of the students with respect to each body of knowledge.
