Institutional Monitoring and Evaluation for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (IQuAME) is a CHED’s program on quality assurance for higher education institutions (HEIs) to ensure quality and excellence, relevance and responsiveness, access and equity, and efficiency in Philippine higher education. One of the core indicators under the Relationship with the Community key result area is the Relevance of Programs. This includes the evaluation of the performance of graduates, assessment of the curriculum and its impact to society, among others.

Junior Senior BSCS and BSIT students were invited to participate in the activity.

With the objective of improving the curriculum of all the programs under the College of Computer Science, the said college under the direction of the dean, Mrs. Amie Rosarie C. Caballo, held its first Dialogue with Industry Partners last January 29, 2011 at the Lesage Audio Visual Hall.The college initiated the dialogue to reach out to the industry partners so that the college can know their assessment of our graduates in terms of performance and skills. The event was graced by some industry partners, faculty members, and the junior and senior students of both the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) and Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS) programs.

The activity started with an invocation led by Mrs. Edgelyn Nasayao, a faculty member, and the statement of purpose was delivered by the dean. The evaluation from the industry partners were given by Mr. Jerico Legaspi, Project Manager of INCRAMIND Software Development, Mr. Jerome Auza, Technology Consultant of AUZA.Net, Mr. Baldomero Monreal Jr, Administrative Supervisor of Bohol Light, and Ms. Nora Pahang, HRD Manager of Alturas Group of Companies. Apart from the assessment given, all the guests shared encouraging words to the students even extending on giving some helpful tips during job interviews and creating resumes. The students keenly asked their questions during the open forum which was handled by Ms. Mariejoe Narca, a faculty member of the said college.

The Vice President for Academic Affairs, Fr. Teodoro P. Gapuz, SVD, in his closing remarks, expressed his amazement as to the turn out of the dialogue. Father Gapuz said that the exchange was very enriching and the sharing were to be considered as a bonus because it did not only focus on the technical aspects of the development, but also on the refinement of the personhood of the student.

The event was a successful one and will become an annual activity of the said college to ensure that the quality of education is maintained in the institution.
