The participants went through a two-day seminar workshop and covered the topics on Strategy, Management, and Technology. There was a mixture of lecture sessions, answering of sample problems and sharing answers among themselves. On the third day, they went through a mock exam in the morning.
During the closing ceremonies in the afternoon of the third day, Mr. Soriano encouraged the participants to take either the IT Passport Exam (IP) or the Fundamental Engineer’s Exam (FE) this coming March 27, 2011 in order to increase the percentage of PhilNITS-certified passers in Bohol. To note, there are only 7 PhilNITS Certified Fundamental Engineers in Bohol, two of whom are from Holy Name University, Ms. Caballo of the College of Computer Science and Mr. Justiniano Villocido of the College of Engineering. Likewise, Ms. Autentico of DTI, who represents also the Bohol IT Council, encouraged the participants to be advocates of IT in Bohol in order to situate Bohol as the next IT hub in the Visayas region. Ms. Caballo, one of the facilitators also shared her experiences in taking the exam and encouraged them to take the exam as a means of self-assessment while a participant from BISU-Balilihan gave a response in behalf of the seminar participants.
