This first semester of S.Y. 2009-2010, the College of Arts & Sciences (CAS) has three new departmental chairpersons and eight new teachers in its faculty roster. Of the eight newly hired faculty, two teach full time and six are on a part-time basis.
The chairpersons of the five CAS departments are as follows: Fr. Anselmo E. Nicasio, SVD for the Religious Education Department; Dr. Josefina L. Clarete for the Math & Natural Sciences Department; Dr. Porferia C. Lao for the Criminal Justice Education Department; Mr. Ramon A. Boloron for the Languages Department; and Mr. Crisanto O. Estonina for the Social Sciences Department.
The eight new faces in the CAS teaching force are as follows:
1.Mr. Eutemio G. Biloy - He obtained his Master of Arts in Education major in Science Education here in Holy Name University last March 2008. Before joining the CAS on a full-time basis, he was the Physics Laboratory In-charge and part-time teacher for the last ten years.
2.Ms. Hyacinth N. Suarez - She is not actually new to the university because she handled Biology in HNU last S.Y. 2005-2007. She stopped teaching to finish her Master of Science in Coastal Resource Management program at Silliman University which she completed last March 2009.
3.Frt. Ronald Rey Espartinez, SVD. Fr. Ronrey as we fondly address him is handling Philosophy subjects in the Social Sciences Department. Presently, he is the SVD regent assigned in the High School Department of the university.
4.Mr. Nobuhiko Namiki. He is a native speaker of the Japanese Language from Nagoya City, Japan. He teaches Nippongo as a Foreign Language subject to Mass Communication students. He has an eye for Visual Arts and is also a sports lover.
5.Mrs. Teofilita T. Tayuna. She is a graduate of Bachelor of Mass Communication and Bachelor of Laws at Silliman University. Actually, a returnee to HNU having taught here last 1996 up to 1999. Presently, she is handling mass communication subjects to our AB Mass Comm Students.
6.Mr. Juan Sarabia. He is a holder of a Master of Arts in Education major in Teaching English as a Second Language which he earned at Cebu Normal University last 1993. Before joining HNU, he taught at Mindanao State University - Cotabato Campus for the last 25 years.
7.Bro. Gil Peter Coching, SVD. Brod. Pete as we fondly call him, is a graduate of Master of Science in Development Communication and Management at UP Los Banos. He is the broadcast design consultant responsible in the layout and design of HNU's Mass Comm Laboratory in the Scanlon building.
8.Mrs. Lilia J. Vistal. After her retirement from the university as guidance counselor in the High School Department, she decided to resume teaching. She teaches Spanish to AB students.
