For the preparation of the upcoming intramurals this month of September, the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) conducted their annual sports festivities at the high school gymnasium on August 1, 2009 with the theme, "Creating Achievements Through Sports."

In the opening at 9:00 o'clock, Engr. Juliet M. Salgados, Dean of the CAS Department, gave her welcome address to the students regarding the said activity. She emphasized the importance of sports to the students in developing their physical, mental and spiritual abilities, and also for developing the spirit of comradeship.

Mr. Pablito Magaya-ay Jr., a senior BS Criminology student headed the calisthenics for the athletes together with the faculty. It was followed by a song presentation by, the psychology students, Mr. Angelo Piquero and Ms. Lowela Itac.

The search for Mr. and Ms. CAS is the most awaited part of the affair. Candidate showed their best smiles and projections to the audience during their production number. The Mr. and Ms. CAS candidates are the following: Kristoffer Ferniz, Andrew Justin Vedra, Vincent Lovino, Chris Zambernard Milan, Eduardo Galindo, Benmarosa Rara, Gretchel Torillo, Hershey Limosnero, Patricia Divinagracia, and Jean Stephanie Buten. Mr. Mark Anthony Pernia, Mr. Nobuhiko Namiki, and Mrs. Victoria Millanar are the board of judges during the search.

Mr. Joseph Estaño and Ms. Janice Parilla, the reigning 2008 Mr. and Ms. CAS showed their final walk to the audience as their title of being Mr. & Ms. CAS of 2008 were turned over to the winners.

All students yelled in excitement when Mr. Kristoffer Ferniz and Ms. Gretchel Torillo, both from the MassCom department, were crowned as this years title holder as the year's Mr. and Ms. CAS.

Prior to the sports festival, Mr. Michael Divinagracia, the current president of the Neo-Psychology Society, led the oath of sportsmanship to the athletes.

The event was hosted by Mr. Francis Braulio Marudo and Ms. Alyssa Escabarte.
