"Live Life to the fullest," quipped the new Dean of the College of Nursing, Mrs. Ruvih Joy Garrote. This semester, the college has warmly embraced the new "mother" who will serve as guide towards the attainment of our goals. When her deanship was known, her first reactions were genuine surprise and a sort of an expectation for a new beginning. In her stint at HNU, she has shown her excellence and ability in managing people.
Mrs. Garrote was born in Tagbilaran City, Bohol on December 2, 1962 blessed with a loving husband and caring daughters, Cindy and Barby, that made her happily embrace the journey of life. People describe her to have look fierce, but deep inside her is a heart that is full of love, care, and compassion.
Mrs. Garrote finished her nursing course at Bohol Provincial Hospital School of Nursing in 1982. In her student life, she was a recipient of Excellence in Clinical Practice. However, after passing the Board Exam for Nursing, her license was not released because she was underage that time. Spending her time wisely, she enrolled at University of Bohol as her post Basic Nursing course from 1984-1985. Right after graduation, she had her first employment at the City Health Office where she strengthened her nursing stints as a casual nurse. However, with the continuous ambition of exploring new heights and brighter future, she went to Davao and was employed as a staff nurse at the Asian American Free Labor Institute (1985-1989), then at Gold Company, transporting gold and working with metallurgists (1989-1993). After the expiration of her contract, she went back to Bohol to pursue a teaching stint at Holy Name University. During her teaching career, she took up a BSED Qualifying major in General Science which made her a Licensed Teacher. Besides teaching, she also became a laboratory assistant and a secretary in the College of Nursing. During that time, she simultaneously took up her Master's degree major in Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing in Cebu Normal University. Seen with in-depth potentials, she was then promoted as the RLE Chairman and now, the new dean of the College of Nursing and is presently pursuing her doctoral studies at Cebu Normal University in Cebu City.
Mrs. Lourdes T. Babor is the newly appointed Chairperson of the RLE of the College of Nursing who loves the Chinese dictum: "Mean what you say. Say what you mean."
Mrs. Babor, a no non-sense directed person earned her Master's degree in Nursing at Holy Name University in 2008 with a rating Magna Cum Laude.
She is married to Dr. Eddie R. Babor. Their marriage brought them three children: Lued, Brain, and Gian.
The position is not new to Mrs. Babor since she was the RLE CHN Chairperson prior to her present post which require her to handle both the RLEs in hospitals and communities.
