Languages Department with BOFIDO launch FILM Festival

A historic idea has just been christened and is about to claim its place in the history of arts and culture: the birthing of the BOHOL International Film Festival through the BOHOL FILM DEVELOPMENT ORGANIZATION or BOFIDO

BOFIDO dreams of making BOHOL a major center of Film Culture and Cinematic creativity in the years to come to help animate the tourism climate that is fast growing in our province and in the country.

Last July 21, 2009, BOFIDO launched and brought to life the Bohol International Film Festival with the Bohol Gala Premiere of the movie, "Kamoteng Kahoy" directed by Maryo J. de los Reyes, at ScreenVille Cinema 1, Island City Mall. Holy Name University through the Chairperson of the Languages Department, Mr. Ramon Boloron with Language Professor, Mrs. Rosalina Sarabosing, and a drama instructor, Mr. Raul Gatal acted as the coordinating University for the Launching of International Film Festival.

The Bohol International Film Festival is envisioned to be a biennial festival of International and Filipino films featuring movies of great creativity and extolling the BOFIDO theme: Celebration of Life, Love, Hope, and Abundance.

The Festival shall set the benchmark for quality films of the 21st century in the Philippines, giving the film industry a big boost, greater inspiration, and dynamic challenge for making the art of the cinema the medium par excellence of the Information Age.

Child actor, Nash Aguas, and other cast of the movie, Lloyd Samartino, Gerard Madrid, Julio Diaz, with actor/director Cesar Montano and other guest stars from Manila, Kristine Bernal, Aljur Abreneca, and Baron Geisler provided grandeur and impact to the Gala Premiere of the movie, "Kamoteng Kahoy".
