The College of Education was once again in the limelight when its new graduates Ms. Maria Jane Ebua emerged as 8th placer in the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) given by the Philippine Regulation Commission in April 2010. Ms. Ebua is a resident of the municipality of Catigbian, Bohol and the daughter of Mrs. Ramona Agad-Ebua.

The COED showed good performance as 74% and 76% BEED and BSED graduates who took the examination for the first time passed it. However, re-takers did not post a similarly remarkable performance.

The new teachers and the topnotchers were honored in a testimonial dinner on July 16 at the Metro Centre Hotel. The University President, Fr. Francisco T. Estepa, SVD, presented the token to the topnotcher and delivered an inspiring message. Fr. Teodoro P. Gapuz, SVD also gave an inspiring message commending and further encouraging the COED administrators, new teachers, and staff to strive for further excellence.

Ms. Pearly Tagaan, the president of the batch and her mother, Mrs. Helen Tagaan, delivered emotional speeches revealing the hardships that they had gone through that culminated in the great achievement. The topnotcher, Ms. Ebua, emphasized that she only did two things to top the test - she read rapidly and prayed fervently.

Also present in the activity were Fr. Ruel Gado, SVD, the Campus Ministry Director; Fr. Vicente Uy, SVD, VP for Finance; Fr. Anselmo Nicasio, the Chair of the Religious Education Department; COED Faculty; administrators; and parents of the graduates.

The new teachers presented a powerful dance number while COED female faculty complemented the new teachers' presentation with another dance number. The male teachers sang the old and new - time favorite songs.

Mr. Jose Pabalan III and Ms. Jaremilleta Arawiran were the hosts of the program.
