Working Scholars Reunion

It was an informal gathering where their experiences , hardships and accomplishments were reminisced and recalling the joys and hopes they shared during their stay here in HNU as a working student .

The following is the list of the students assigned to CEDev and their respective present employment status:

  6. Ms. Maria Flores Pinat-Veloso (2000-2003) - CEDev Staff
  7. Ms. Haidee Palacat-Bertulfo ( 2000-2003) - Land Bank of the Phil.- Cebu
  8. Ms. Dioscora F. Patayon (2003-2005) - Teacher - Bilar National High School
  9. Ms. Evelyn de la Torre (2005-2009) - Practice Teaching - HNU

Ms. Maria Flores Veloso-Pinat organized the said activity in coordination with Ms. Consolacion Cericos.

Next reunion is scheduled in 2010.


Fr Ruel Gado, SVD gives the homily during the Holy Mass of the Mission Sending Rite for the College of Nursing Students.

On June 22, 2009, CEDEv facilitated the Mission Sending activity to 200 1st year students of the College of Nursing who will be undergoing the Community Health Nursing starting this school year.

The activity started with a talk on WHAT IS THE SCHOOL'S OUTREACH PROGRAM, followed by a short talk on MISSIONARY WORK and THE DO'S AND DON'T'S IN COMMUNITY WORK. All these topics were given by the Director of CEDev.

To culminate the activity, a Holy Mass was celebrated for the two sessions in the morning and in the second batch in the afternoon with Fr. Ruel S. Gado as the celebrant.

CEDev distributes school bags to Catarman Pupils

A total of 144 school bags donated by NANZAN JUNIOR COLLEGE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION of Nagoya, Japan were distributed to the Grade II pupils of Catarman Elementary School. These pupils were the beneficiaries of the program of the Japanese students from Nanzan who had their International Cooperation Volunteer Fieldwork Programme last Feb. 10 - March 2, this year.

Preparation for Day Care Center Turnover

Before the formal turnover of St. Arnold Janssen Day Care Center, the parents and CEDev staff met, cleaned up activity and repainted the walls of the day care building. With the full support from HNU Administration through Fr. Andy Guban, SVD, HNU sent carpenters to do some repairs of the building.

The following is the list of the students assigned to CEDev and their respective present employment status:
Last June 26, 2009, Holy Name University, after a period of 10 years, formally turned over the St. Arnold Janssen Day Care Center, which was under the care and management of the Center for Community Extension and Development, to the local government unit of Barangay San Isidro of Tagbilaran City.

The turnover ceremony was attended by Fr. Francisco T. Estepa, SVD, the President of Holy Name University, together with the members of the CEDev Council, namely Dr. Teotima Amborgo- Dean Graduate School; Dr. Jemma Jay-Dean, College of Business and Accountancy; Ms. Josephine Cemini-Research Assistant; Dr. Grace Samson-Director-Guidance Center; Mrs. Lourdes T. Babor - representing the College of Nursing; Engr. James P. Uy-Dean, College of Engineering; Dr. Roque Bongcac-Dean, College of Education with Dr.Guadalupe Saturinas; Mrs. Remedios Cardino-Principal, HS Dept.; Dr. Prisciano Legitimas, Principal, Grade School Dept.; Ms. Joan Llanos- SAO Director, and Sisters from the Campus Ministry. The CSWD Officer, Dr. Teresita Villafuerte and staff, parents of the day care pupils and the members of the Barangay Council of San Isidro headed by the active and supportive Punong Barangay, Hon. Gildardo T. Bustamante were present. Hon. Bustamante received the symbolic key from Fr. Francisco Estepa.

The turnover ceremony started with the Invocation, singing of the Lupang Hinirang and Awit sa Bohol. The Welcome Address was delivered by Kag. Joseph Sagaral and Fr. Estepa, Hon. Bustamante and Atty. Danilo Bantugan - representing the City of Tagbilaran gave their messages. The highlight of the program was the Cutting of the Ribbon to open the school and offering it to the Barangay and turning over the key to the LGU.

The Barangay in turn, also gave a plaque of appreciation to the Center for Community Extension and Development for bringing HNU to San Isidro that paved the way for the offering of Early Childhood Education.

The activity ended with a prayer and a simple salu-salo. The Master of Ceremonies was Maria Flores Veloso-Pinat, a CEDev Staff.

Fr. Francisco T. Estepa, SVD, HNU President turns over the symbolic key of the Day Care Center to Hon. Gildardo T. Bustamante, Punong Barangay of Barangay San Isidro as Dr. Teresita Villafuerte from the City CSWD and Engr. Noel Uy, CEDev Director assist.

Fr. Estepa, hands the Certificate of Appreciation to Mr. Aquilino Bisol, one of the owners of the lot used by the Day Care Center.
