Living up to its CHED-endowed role as Center of Training for Teachers, the College of Education fielded its Academic Chair, Dr. Roque A. Bongcac, to speak in local and international conferences.

Upon invitation, Dr. Bongcac delivered a lecture on Rethinking English Language Teaching for Gender-Fair Education to the administrators, faculty and students of the Department of English Language, Foreign Languages and Literatures of Zhangzhou Normal University (ZNU) in Zhangzhou City, Fujian Province, China. His talk was part of the efforts of HNU to establish partnership with the ZNU for standard-benchmarking. Dr. Bongcac’s lecture was held at 3:00 pm on November 4, 2008 in the world-class YIFU Building of the same university.

On November 12, Dr. Bongcac gave a talk on Modular Instruction to the administrators, faculty and staff of Dr. Cecilio Putong National High School (DCPNHS) of this city. After his talk, Mrs. Concepcion Bagotchay, the principal, personally thanked HNU in general and Dr. Bongcac in particular for the assistance in enhancing teacher capability in making and implementing modules.

On November 13, Dr. Bongcac gave another lecture on

Developing English Proficiency

to the administrators and faculty of the Mansasa High School. The talk aimed to give the participants deeper awareness on issues and concerns related to developing proficiency in English.

On November 26, Dr. Bongcac delivered a two-hour lecture on

Editorial Writing

to the third year high school students of the Holy Name University. His talk was part of the intra-school press conference, one of the activities of the High School Department for the English Week Celebration in the auspices of the chairperson, Mrs. Mary Faith Barrete, and the Assistant Principal of the Night High School, Mrs. Gladys Florita.

Earlier, on September 26, 2008, Dr. Bongcac delivered a three-hour lecture on Concepts and Research Theory Utilization to the administrators, faculty and students of the graduate schools in Bohol, that include the University of Bohol, Central Visayas State College of Agriculture, Forestry and Technology, Mater Dei College, Bohol Institute of Technology-International College and Holy Name University. Held at the HNU-Lesage Audio Visual Hall, the one-day seminar was sponsored by the Philippine Association for Graduate Education (PAGE) Region VII in coordination with the University of San Carlos CHED Zonal Research Center.
