The members of the Non-Academic Personnel Club of Holy Name University headed by Mrs. Marciana Cuasito held their annual retreat at Balay Kahayag Training and Retreat Center in Upper Laya, Baclayon, Bohol last March 18-19, 2008 with the HNU Vice President for Administration, Fr. Felino B. Javines Jr., SVD, as Retreat Master.
On the first day, Fr. Javines celebrated an unusual form of the Holy Mass for the group which lasted all throughout the first day. The mass was broken down into its parts, namely, the Liturgy of the Word and the Liturgy of the Eucharist. During the intervals, Fr. Javines gave the group talks and exercises to help the participants with their personal reflections and experiences of the retreat. Two memorable exercises were the “Coin Exercise” and the “Land Mines Exercise” which provided insights on values and sacrifice, respectively. Another exercise provided the participants with an idea of what their priorities are in life.
Two members of the group shared their reflections and responses to the guide questions given by Fr. Javines. Mr. Estanislao Solera shared his experiences on how Holy Name University made a difference in his life and expressed his gratitude to the SVD Fathers and to HNU as a whole. Mrs. Marciana Cuasito, tearfully, expressed her gratitude as well to the people she worked for and with at HNU, most especially during a recent, most trying time in her life.
Fr. Javines gave his final talk on the morning of the last day and celebrated a Holy Mass afterwards.
This year's retreat, as facilitated by Fr. Javines, was conducted in a relaxed atmosphere which focused more on personal reflections, group sharing, and bonding of the members of the Non-Academic Personnel Club.
For a whole day and a half, Balay Kahayag was home to the Non-Academic Personnel. Its personnel treated the group to tasty meals and native snacks--much to the delight of everybody. Truly, it was an experience of both body and soul!
