The College of Engineering gave honor to the Engineering graduating class of 2008 last March 14, 2008 at the Engineering Batch 2008 Ringhop Ceremony & Graduation Ball at the Metro Center Hotel. This was participated in by the three different departments, namely the Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Electronics and Communications Engineering, together with the faculty and staff of the college.
The Vice President for Academic Affairs, Fr. Romeo P. Bancale, SVD, was the guest of honor of said occasion. He gave an inspirational message to the graduating class. It was noted that night in Dean Engr. James Uy's Opening Remarks that it is Fr. Bancale who fathered the birth of the College of Engineering. It was during his presidency that the College of Engineering of Holy Name University, then Divine Word College, was born.
The dazzling and debonair graduating honorees of the College of Engineering last night performed the traditional ringhop ceremony escorted by their respective partners. Engr. Ian E. Samonte, adviser of the CE Batch 2008, introduced the CE honorees while Engr. Harvey F. Halasan, a faculty member of the Computer Engineering Department, introduced the ComE honorees, and Engr. Rosanne S. Daquio, adviser of the ECE Batch 2008, also presented the ECE honorees.
To make the night more special, the College of Engineering gave recognition to the members of the Engineering Cheerdance Team and Engineering Choral group who are graduating. It was the simplest yet sincere way of the college to acknowledge the service and dedication of the students who participated in these out-of-the-classroom activities. These extra curricular activities, one way or the other, have brought camaraderie among the students and their mentors.
Special awards like "Man of the Night," "Lady of the Night," and "Couple of the Night" were also given to the worthy participants. The "Man of the Night" award went to Mr. Francis Bautista from the ECE Department; Ms. Migiliriza Dalida, from the ComE Department was awarded "Lady of the Night" and the "Couple of the Night" award went to Mr. Meinard Claire Hamlag, also from the ComE Department, and his girlfriend, Ms. Perpee Berse, a 3rd year civil engineering student.
The engineering class of 2008 enjoyed the rest of night after the ringhop ceremony.
