HNU - Center for Local Governance

OUR VISION

Christian professionals providing quality service to public servants and community leaders for a dynamic and effective organization.

HISTORY

Holy Name University, a prime Catholic institution in the province of Bohol, has involved itself in various activities that develop and strengthen the capabilities of local government units. In 1995, its involvement in local governance was heightened through the Governance and Local Democracy (GOLD) Project of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Its efforts were recognized when it was chosen as one of the six Centers for Local Governance in the country.

On August 16, 1999, Holy Name University, formerly Divine Word College of Tagbilaran, formally opened its Center for Local Governance (CLG). In its initial stages, financial support was provided by the USAID through a sub-grant with the Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP). The Associates in Rural Development was also instrumental in giving the Center Technical Assistance.

The HNU-CLG provides customized training programs and technical assistance to local government units and various sectors of the civil society, including but not limited to private business enterprises, religious organization, people's organization and non government organizations.
