Assistant Vice President for Administration

Fr. Manuel B. Mijares, SVD, also known as Fr. Manny, was born on September 9, 1979 to parents (+) Inocencio B. Mijares and (+) Adelina Brabante of Palanas, Masbate. He is the youngest of six (6) children.

He attended Palanas Central Elementary School and St. Anthony of Padua Minor Seminary for his secondary education.

He entered the SVD and became one of the products of the "Adopt a Seminarian" Foundation of Fr. Isabelo San Luis, SVD, a veteran writer, radio/TV personality, and Educator. He professed vows in 2005.

During his regency, he worked at the SVD Philippines Southern Province under the Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation (JPIC) where he immersed himself in the different grassroots apostolates of the SVD such as the housing for the poor, livelihood projects for slum dwellers, etc.

He was ordained in 2010, a member of the Xin Ya Class.

His first mission assignment was in the parish of San Miguel in Mabuhay, Zamboanga Sibugay, as parochial vicar (20011-2014). Afterwards, he was assigned at the SVD-PHS Provincialate in Cebu as the SVD Vocation Director for Visayas and Mindanao. In 2016, he was at the University of San Carlos as one of the campus chaplains.

On February 18, 2017, he was also asked by the Lord’s Flock Catholic Charismatic community of Cebu for a night of praise and worship with the talk about “How to Find Favor & Good Success.”

In June 2017, he became a student-priest at the Divine Word Institute of Mission Studies (DWIMS) for further studies in Missiology. He attended the 6th Plenary Assembly and International Conference of the International Association of Catholic Missiologists (IACM) in Mahatai, Pataya, Thailand.

Beginning the second semester of 2021-2022, Fr. Manny was appointed as the Assistant Vice President of Holy Name University in Tagbilaran City, Bohol.

Fr. Mijares holds an MA in Mission Studies.
